A little over a week ago I was having coffee and talking technology and ministry with Cynthia Ware of The Digital Sanctuary. And she told me a story about some friends of hers and how they had received information from Twitter regarding some events that later became the news. I am not sure if you any of you even remember me posting about this, but when Will was born he had a hole in his heart. The pulmonary veins were also tight around his heart (I think it was something like this), and he had a heart murmur. When he was a little baby, we had to bring him in to be checked by the pediatric cardiologist. At that time, we were told that everything looked fine and that he would probably outgrow it. He was suppose to have a follow up in December, and bad mommy here forgo

Thoughts on suffering, pt. 2 Tonight my father called a cousin in Chengdu who, we discovered with relief, is fine. His reports about the incredible destruction at the earthquake's epicenter were anything but comforting. So mangled are the roads that getting there with any help is next to impossible. I've been in Chengdu, I've been in the mountainous outskirts where the quake was centered. And as the son of a geophysicist who, among other thing, specializes in earthquakes and has done work i

A major earthquake struck central China earlier today, with a magnitude 7.8 on the Richter scale. Early reports are suggesting widespread damage and telecommunications systems were hit hard as phone lines were down due to volume of calls trying to find out about loved ones and power outages.

Brevard County, Florida has seen two days of fires that have destroyed over 50 homes and still threatens more houses and businesses. Interstate 95 has been closed off and on during the day today while many Palm Bay and Malabar schools have been shut down due to the threat of approaching fires and smoke. Florida Governor Crist declared Brevard County in a state of emergency at 4:00 this afternoon as firefighters from nearby counties had already been in action helping the local fire departm
